The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people.
