SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Girdwood, AK.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Girdwood are programs that are legally allowed to distribute the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
