The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. An opioid treatment center can get their basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office.
