The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Mc Grath are programs that are legally permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
