SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - North Pole, AK.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in North Pole are programs who are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can get their initial approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been given.
