Methadone and Buprenorphine Clients Only - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Jones Mill, AR.

There are programs offered in or near Jones Mill that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, medications that are used in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone is a full opioid agonist the same as heroin, and buprenorphine is a partial agonist, meaning the same neural receptors that make a person feel high from morphine or heroin are activated by these two drugs so therefore an opioid dependent client will instead not become involved in drug seeking behavior and won't experience cravings and withdrawal. There are dangers with side effects, drug interactions, and even overdose with both methadone and buprenorphine, which is why they are heavily regulated and can only be prescribed in a clinical setting.

Methadone and buprenorphine clients are on these medications consistently so they don't experience cravings, withdrawal, etc. but hopefully at a dosage which isn't also causing them to feel euphoria. Euphoria is possible at a high dosage, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At clinics which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are limited beyond managing the medication and the primary treatment goal is to manage the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some centers do provide a limited amount of counseling and therapy as supplementary services, and this is recommended and encouraged.
