Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Veterans are central for the mental health and overall stability of Veterans of all branches of the military. Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health problems are found at higher than average rates among Vets, it is important that Veterans get the essential help they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Substance abuse facilities for Vets in Palestine are available through the VA, with services that include measures to address associated disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Vets. Rehabilitation for addiction and associated problems among Vets includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies that can increase an individual's motivation to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is recommended. Medications are also available in some circumstances to help Vets lessen their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
Substance abuse programs for Veterans are offered during the evening and weekend hours, with both residential and outpatient programs available. Facilities that are gender-specific and those for homeless Vets are available in certain areas.
