Regular out-patient recovery is usually a less expensive choice to more comprehensive outpatient options or inpatient treatment, and is the lowest intensity of formal drug or alcohol rehabilitation available in West Point. Some people are attending rehab for the first time and have picked regular outpatient because of the cost and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a "step-down" to service following treatment in a more intensive outpatient program like a partial hospitalization or in-patient facility.
Regular out-patient rehab services involve some kind of individual and group counseling services occurring once or twice a week. Centers which offer a wider spectrum of services may include counseling (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help respond to co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. How long a client stays in treatment can change from client to client, and a person's progress can be evaluated every now and then and an extension of treatment can be suggested contingent upon these findings.
In many cases, a regular outpatient rehab program is going to be lacking in intensity for a person who is addressing a severe alcohol and drug issue and has never gone to recovery previously or has relapsed following prior outpatient treatment.
