Regular out-patient recovery is mostly a less expensive alternative to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient treatment, and is the least intense of formal alcohol or drug rehab available in Dateland. Some clients are attending treatment for the first time and have chosen regular outpatient because of the cost and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a downgrade from treatment in a more intense outpatient facility such as a partial hospitalization or in-patient center.
Regular out-patient treatment services involve some kind of group and individual counseling services delivered once or twice a week. Programs that include a wider array of services may include counseling (behavioral therapy) to help with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. How long an individual remains in treatment can vary, and a client's improvement can be assessed occasionally and more rehab can be recommended based on these evaluations.
In many cases, a regular outpatient rehabilitation program is going to be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is facing a chronic substance abuse issue and has never experienced treatment previously or has relapsed after previous outpatient rehab.
