One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.
An opioid rehabilitation program can receive initial approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification that was granted.
