Partial hospitalization/Day Treatment is a type of outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment program that is just below intensive outpatient and more intensive than normal out-patient rehab. Partial Hospitalization Day Treatment is also designed to help clients who need intensive rehab for a dual-diagnosis disorder, but do not require 24 hour intervention and care. For a person who has finished inpatient rehab, a partial hospitalization day treatment plan in Bard could help them transition more easily into a drug-free lifestyle as a "step-down" option. Following partial hospitalization day treatment, the client could then transition over to regular out-patient care.
When a client is in a partial hospitalization day treatment program, they commonly take part in services in the range of 3-5 days per week. It is similar to an in-patient treatment program in many important ways, including the fact that individuals will have access tomental health professionals, physicians and nurses who can deal with the psychological, emotional, and physical issues they are trying to overcome. For at least 4-6 hours on the days that individuals attend partial hospitalization day treatment, the clients will receive individual addiction therapy, attend group counseling sessions, psychotherapy sessions, receive any needed medical care and deal with any of the mental health symptoms that trigger their drug and alcohol addiction.
