SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Corona, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Corona are programs which are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
