The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients.
