SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Guinda, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Guinda are programs who are officially permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
