Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. An opioid rehabilitation program can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
