The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
