SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Mendocino, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Mendocino are programs that are legally allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification that was granted.
