An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
