SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Needles, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Needles are programs which are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification that was granted.
