SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Oakville, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Oakville are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification that was given.
