SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Olema, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Olema are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation that was granted.
