The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
