SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Ridgecrest, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Ridgecrest are programs who are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification that was granted.
