SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - San Ysidro, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in San Ysidro are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
