SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Santa Clara, CA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Santa Clara are programs who are officially permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
