The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals.
