The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals.
