The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals.
