Intensive outpatient treatment, also known as "IOP", is a form of rehabilitation for an addiction problem that is substantially more involved and comprehensive than a standard outpatient program. Intensive outpatient treatment is fundamental activity for people in Woody who have just finished residential or inpatient rehab, and still want adequate support and intervention while they progress to a drug free and wholesome lifestyle. IOP's involve therapy which occurs more frequently than conventional outpatient, where clients will participate in treatment services and activities on a part time basis unless otherwise adjudicated.
Intensive outpatient treatment typically consists of group and sometimes individualized counseling meetings to continue to treat the person's addiction. Individual sessions often take place at least once a week, and group sessions will add the peer support that is essential for long term sobriety. In intensive outpatient treatment, clients work on improving relapse prevention skills, managing every day stresses and triggers, and how to manage any lingering withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Some intensive outpatient treatment programs incorporate family and couples/marriage counseling into the treatment process, which may be beneficial for people who must repair their lives with their loved ones and family members.
