There are three separate types of mental health care, including residential, outpatient, and hospital inpatient. Some people who require assistance for a mental problem may desire an outpatient approach because of personal obligations or due to the possible tarnishing of their reputation because of their disorder. Many clients can still have a normal work or school day and receive outpatient mental health treatment with 100% discretion and privacy.
Outpatient mental health centers are usually found in private offices, hospitals or community health centers in Rand. The intensity of outpatient mental health treatment can vary from facility to facility, but can range from participation a few days a week to daily treatment. An outpatient mental health facility will do a complete evaluation of the client's medical history, both mental and physical, including their prescription drug and illicit drug history. Psychological testing is also a standard process, and clinicians and doctors will come up with a course of care that can include individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family therapy, marriage/couples counseling, etc. If the individual needing treatment also has a co-occurring disorder such as a drug or alcohol problem, many outpatient mental health centers are prepared to treat this dual diagnosis.
