The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Baltic are programs which are officially allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. An opioid rehab center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office.
