SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Broad Brook, CT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Broad Brook are programs which are officially permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can get their initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
