SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Colchester, CT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Colchester are programs which are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification that was given.
