The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in South Britain are programs who are officially permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements.
