SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Uncasville, CT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Uncasville are programs which are legally allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification that was given.
