SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - West Cornwall, CT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in West Cornwall are programs which are legally permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was granted.
