The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
