It is a known fact that individuals in rehab for alcohol and/or drug addiction are more likely to smoke tobacco, 75 percent in fact. As such few programs address the problem as a primary addiction, even though the fact that helping people stop smoking tobacco while in treatment is associated with a 25% higher possibility the individual will stay sober from alcohol and drugs. As a result, there are 'smoking not allowed' drug rehabilitation centers in Port St. Joe that implement a smoking ban and most of them also offer nicotine addiction treatment.
While complete smoking bans are not the norm, an increasing number of centers are starting to enforce their own bans, but also state and local tobacco-free workplace mandates attempt to make rehabs completely smoke-free environments. In doing so, these mandates bypass the need to develop and implement facility policies that are already legally in place and enforced legally by state and local agencies. Implementing a ban on smoking may deter potential clients who smoke starting treatment. In the meantime, it will help those who do choose a smoking not allowed alcohol and/or drug addiction rehab center be better able to get sober in a completely addiction and drug free environment.
