Regular out-patient rehabilitation is mostly a less expensive alternative to more intensive outpatient centers or inpatient recovery, and is the least intense of formal drug or alcohol treatment around in Alma. Some people are attending rehab for their first time and have picked regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of work, school or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from rehab in a more intense outpatient center such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient center.
Regular outpatient rehabilitation options involve some kind of group and individual counseling services delivered once maybe twice per week. Facilities which offer a wider range of services may include counseling (CBT) to assist with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. The length of time a person stays in recovery can vary, and a person's progress can be evaluated occasionally and more treatment can be suggested based on these findings.
In many cases, a regular outpatient rehab program is going to be lacking in intensity for a person who is dealing with a chronic substance abuse problem and has not gone to recovery before or has relapsed after previous outpatient treatment.
