SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Hortense, GA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Hortense are programs who are officially permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
