Regular outpatient rehabilitation is mostly a less costly alternative to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient treatment, and is the lowest intensity of formal drug or alcohol rehabilitation available in Jekyll Island. Some people are attending treatment for their first time and have picked regular outpatient because of the cost and time commitment and logistically because of school, work or other obligations. For many, regular outpatient is a "step-down" to service following treatment in a more intense outpatient center such as a partial hospitalization or in-patient facility.
Regular out-patient rehab services involve individual and group counseling services occurring once or twice a week. Programs that offer a wider array of services may include counseling (behavioral therapy) to assist with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. The length of time a person remains involved in treatment can change from client to client, and a client's improvement can be judged every now and then and more rehab can be suggested contingent upon these evaluations.
In some cases, a regular outpatient recovery facility is going to be deficient in intensity for a person who is attempting to address a severe drug and alcohol problem and has not experienced rehab previously or has relapsed following prior outpatient rehabilitation.
