Regular out-patient rehab is mostly a less expensive choice to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient rehab, and is the least intense of formal substance abuse rehab available in Washington. Some individuals are attending rehab for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and time commitment and logistically because of work, school or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from treatment in a more intensive outpatient facility such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient facility.
Regular outpatient recovery options involve some kind of group and individual counseling services occurring once maybe twice per week. Programs that offer a more diverse range of services may include psychotherapies (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. The length of time an individual stays involved in recovery can vary, and a client's progress can be judged occasionally and more treatment can be recommended contingent upon these findings.
In some cases, a regular outpatient rehabilitation program may be insufficient in intensity for a person who is addressing a bad substance abuse problem and has never experienced recovery before or has fallen off the wagon following prior outpatient recovery.
