The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. An opioid rehabilitation center can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year.
