SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centers - Kooskia, ID.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Kooskia are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was granted.
