There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opioids. Someone taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
