Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Carlock, IL.

One of the out-patient treatment alternatives for people in Carlock struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are authorized to dispense specific medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioids themselves and are addiction. In low enough amounts however, the individual does not experience high feelings but also doesn't experience severe cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this purpose, but there are other choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to administer the drug, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the drug is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be administered in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is approximately three hundred dollars monthly for the generic of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med which blocks the effects of opioids. Someone consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
