Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse.
