The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around just under $300 monthly for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug that blocks the effects of opioids. Someone consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and costs about $450 per month. Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
