There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med which reverses the effects of opiates. An individual taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
