Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
